Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Live-in Child Caregiver to provide personalized care and support to a child in our own home. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping others and the ability to create a nurturing environment for clients, particularly children and individuals with disabilities. This role requires flexibility, patience, and a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those in your care.
Job Duties:
• Supervise and care for the child in employer's residence, including assisting with personal hygiene.
• Plan, prepare and serve meals for the child and may perform other housekeeping duties.
• Oversee child's activities, such as meals and rest periods, as instructed by employer.
• Take child to and from school and appointments
• May be required to keep records of daily activities and health information regarding child.
• Administer medication and provide other health-related support as needed.
• Support clients with meal preparation and nutritional needs, ensuring dietary restrictions are met.
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home.
• Tend to the emotional well-being of child and support their social development.
• Discipline child according to the methods requested by the parents.
• Engage in age-appropriate educational training through organized activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
• Assist with light housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and clean living environment.
• Monitor and document client progress, reporting any changes in behavior or health to family members or healthcare professionals.
• Foster a supportive atmosphere by encouraging independence while providing necessary assistance.
• Collaborate with family members to develop personalized care plans that meet the unique needs of each client.
Requirements:
• Must be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or have a valid open working permit.
• Previous experience in caregiving or related fields is highly desirable.
• Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities is preferred.
• A high school diploma.
• First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Driver's license to drive the child to his sports activities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Must be able to pass a criminal record check.
Wage & Benefits: Starts at $20/hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Able to work 7 hours a day, 5 days a week (including weekends, depending on need).
