Job Summary

The General Labourer supports daily production activities in an investment casting foundry environment. This role involves hands-on work assisting with material handling, mould preparation, cleaning, finishing, and general shop duties to ensure safe, efficient, and timely production of aerospace and industrial cast components.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Foundry Support

Assist in foundry operations including shell handling, casting support, knockout, and cleanup
Load and unload moulds, racks, and materials as required
Support melt shop, shell room, wax, or finishing departments as assigned
Remove ceramic shell from castings using hand tools and equipment
Perform basic grinding, cutting, and deburring of cast parts (where trained)
Assist with furnace area housekeeping and material staging
Material Handling

Move materials, castings, and supplies using carts, pallet jacks, or forklifts (if certified)
Sort, identify, and stack castings according to job orders
Assist with scrap segregation and waste disposal
Quality & Documentation

Follow work instructions, process sheets, and job travelers
Visually inspect castings for obvious defects and report issues to supervision
Maintain traceability of parts and materials as required
Safety & Housekeeping

Follow all health and safety procedures, including PPE requirements
Maintain a clean and organized work area (5S standards)
Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or equipment issues immediately
Assist with routine equipment cleaning and basic preventative maintenance
Qualifications & Requirements

Required

Ability to perform physical work in a hot, industrial environment
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly
Willingness to learn foundry processes and follow instructions
Strong attention to safety and quality
Reliable attendance and punctuality
Preferred (Not Mandatory)

Previous foundry, manufacturing, or industrial labour experience
Forklift or overhead crane experience
Experience with grinding or hand tools
Ability to read basic work instructions and drawings
