Job Title: Home Support Worker (Caregiver)
Location: Edmonton, AB (Private Household)
Wage: $20.00/hour
Hours: 30–40 hours per week
Job Summary
Provide full-time care and companionship for a senior female with Advanced Liver Cirrhosis and limited mobility due to severe arthritis. The caregiver will provide physical assistance, medication management, and emotional support.
Specific Duties
Medical & Physical Support: Administer medications as prescribed; assist with range-of-motion exercises and mobility transfers (wheelchair/walker); monitor vitals and symptoms related to Cirrhosis.
Personal Care: Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
Meal Preparation: Plan and prepare nutritious meals following a low-sodium, liver-friendly diet.
Housekeeping: Perform light housekeeping duties (laundry, tidying) to maintain a safe and sterile environment.
Cognitive Support: Provide cognitive stimulation and emotional support tailored to the patient's cultural background.
Special Requirements
Language Requirement: Fluency in Filipino (Tagalog) is a bona fide occupational requirement. Due to cognitive impairment and cirrhosis-related comorbidities, the patient has experienced a decline in English fluency and now reverts exclusively to her native language when distressed or confused.
Cultural Competence: A deep understanding of Filipino cultural nuances and dietary preferences is essential to ensure the patient's comfort and compliance with care protocols.
Physician's Recommendation: The attending physician has formally certified that for the patient's safety, mental health, and effective medical monitoring, the caregiver must be able to communicate fluently in Filipino.
