The red wolf population had declined to such an extent that in 2018 there were no litters born and only 40 individuals remained. In 2022 the first recorded litter was born since 2018 only due to reintroduction which was supported by the US Fish and Wildlife Services.
This particular plate, designed by Will Nelson, is the third in the series known as Last of Their Kind: The Endangered Species. Its certificate of Authenticity is number 385C and has a Bradex number 84-G620-15.3.
