A senior family member is downsizing to a condominium suite and has numerous historical pieces to be enjoyed in a new home. How cool that all pieces have been identified with their pattern’s name and historical dates before you purchase them.
*Others’ ads are included for comparison prices*

A – IMAGES 1-2: This set of six (6) antique silver-plate 2-prong forks were created by “1847 Rogers Bros A1” in the late 1800s (circa 1897). These 5¾” forks are designed with two sharp prongs specifically for picking up pickles, olives, seafood/cocktails or other condiments.
This ‘VESTA’ pattern features intricate beading and a Victorian style that will add charm to any collection. They are a true testament to the craftsmanship of the era.
It is rare to have the complete set of six (6), and to be in pristine condition. The tines are sharp and there is no bending on the tips. No monogram. Perfect additions to any festive setting for only $50.

B – IMAGES 1, 3-4: G. RODGERS A1 - 8¼” Cold Meat Fork is a striking silver-plate piece antique featuring an intricate raised floral, beaded Victorian-era design. The “Marcella” pattern was introduced in 1905 during the Art Nouveau period.
In excellent, solid condition with its A1 stamp indicating the highest quality of silver plating used. Monogram free.
It has a very rare G. RODGERS A1 stamp, (Standard Silver Company of Toronto) not to be confused with the popular ‘ROGERS’ marks.
Created just as the Victorian era was ending and the ‘modern’ Edwardian times were beginning. The 120 year old piece is considered highly collectible due to its ornate design, epitomizing elegance and a timeless design. Priced at $30.

C – IMAGES 1, 5-6: American Civil War Era (1861-65) Antique fork 7 ½” and knife 9¼”. A rare set of 165 year old walnut handled utensils with two brass pins in each. The knife has a broad blade made of steel and the fork’s three tines (prongs) are straight and sharp. They are both in sturdy condition with no fillers, but signs of oxidation on the knife.
They have not been refurbished.
The single knife (top of image 1) measures 9½” - solid wood handle with decorative pewter inlay accents, metal end caps, and riveted construction. Very solid with noticeable patina.
History: the fork would have been used to hold meat while it was cut, then the food was lifted to the mouth either on a spoon or the back of the ‘round’ knife. ‘Knife eating’ lasted for eons. (‘Forks’ and ‘round’ knives were thought of a French court affectation when it was easier to just use one’s fingers … then wipe your hands off on the tablecloth or your clothing!)
These three (3) really interesting, historical items are available for just $45.

D – IMAGES 1, 7-8: WM A. ROGERS A1 Butter Knife: The ornate “ARUNDEL” pattern was introduced in 1899. This solid 6⅞” butter knife is embossed on the back: WM A. ROGERS A1 (and tiny print: PAT. APR4, 99) It is designed with a raised intricate beaded, floral pattern with scroll swirls. Solid and in great condition. Own this 125 year old utensil for $25.

E – IMAGES 1, 9 R.S.P. Co. circa 1912 Silver-plate salad/dessert fork 6⅛” ‘Oxford’ pattern which features characteristic Art Nouveau scrollwork extending down the handle. (A rare back-stamp = ‘Rockford Silver Plate Company’ which was taken over in 1925.) $15 for this 114 year old piece.
