This beautiful antique print titled "Le Quai Vert" (The Green Quay) depicts the historic charm of Bruges, Belgium. The artist, Cli Chaulut, expertly captures the essence of the waterway with a realistic style with his subtle colouring. Signed in pencil by the artist – lower right. (image 5)

The multi-coloured print was etched on high-quality paper is framed behind its original glass. The print sight measures 20¾”W x 16¾”H and is displayed in its original Art Deco styled 4½”W mounting. The symmetrical lines are in contrast to the elaborate, organic curves of the earlier Art Nouveau period.

The 100 year old frame is solid wood with subtle hand carved flourishes along the edges. (image 3) The frame’s interior scooped dotted style, (which created texture and visual interest), and was popular during the 1920s. The gold frame measures 30½”W x 26”H. and has a lovely patina. It is in excellent condition with only small wear to the frame commensurate with its age.

The Artist: Cli Chaulut was known for his vintage, framed lithograph prints of European scenes, architecture and waterways. He was not really a documented artist and was sometimes cited as Ch. Chalaut. "Le Quai Vert" is his most famous artwork.
