Job Opportunity – Library Technician Level II
Organization: Canada Energy Regulator (CER)
Location: Calgary, Alberta (Hybrid – Monday–Thursday onsite, Friday remote)
Contract Duration: Feb 24, 2026 – Jan 25, 2027 (may conclude earlier based on operational needs)
Work Hours: 7.5 hours/day, Monday–Friday
About the Role
CER is seeking a Library Technician Level II to support our Information Services team. The role involves providing technical and administrative library services, including cataloguing, classification, research support, maintaining collections, processing regulatory documents, and generating statistical reports.
Key Responsibilities
Create complete bibliographic records and assign classification codes
Catalogue and classify materials using Integrated Library Systems (ILS)
Maintain and organize physical and digital collections
Conduct reference interviews and support research requests
Process regulatory documents and hearing indices
Maintain service statistics and prepare ad hoc reports
Serve as first point of contact for library inquiries
Qualifications & Skills
Experience in library cataloguing and classification
Knowledge of bibliographic standards and controlled vocabularies
Proficient in MS Office and ILS software
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to meet physical demands (lifting up to 15 kg, standing, bending frequently)
Mandatory: Active Government of Canada Reliability Security Clearance
Work Arrangement
Four (4) days onsite in Calgary, one (1) remote day per week
