Become the companion of a wonderful autistic boy in his adventures throughout the city.
You guys will go out to visit museums, the public library, the mall, the Rec Room, etc. Will travel across the ETS and LRT system, and explore all interesting places in Edmonton. Sometimes though, you guys may find yourselves eating unhealthy amounts of pizza. Having fun is the job.
Our son is 19, and you will be surprised to discover that he is not only interesting and well educated, but a joy to deal with. If you have a taste for classic music, cartoons, video games, history, geography or trains, then you are well on your way to becoming great friends wit him.
Requirements
University or college level students enrolled in any program.
You don't need any special training, but a friendly, positive, easy going personality. A good listener, eager to chat and share stories. Someone that enjoys interacting with people of any age and background, not through technology, but personally.
Students seeking a career in Special Needs education may highly benefit from this work experience.
This is a part-time morning job, most of the time for two days a week. We can accommodate a flexible schedule.
