Following the great success of our 6 previous courses, Buzzing Bush Apiary will continue to offer an improved version of its Intro to Beekeeping Course.
• Curious about the amazing world of bees and this rewarding activity?
• Want to boost the population of pollinators in your garden?
• Thinking of providing your friends and family with small-batch honey from your own sustainable backyard hives?

This course is geared towards the bee enthusiast who would like to get started but needs guidance in their first steps.

The day is divided into two distinct sessions: a more traditional “classroom” setting (in a 19th century barn), where you will gather tons of useful info, then the oh-so-important hands-on component, in the bee yard.

You will learn about the importance of bees, the queen, the workers and the drones, the different start-up colony options, the equipment, a typical year in the apiary (month-by-month activities), basic queen rearing needs and splits, moving hives, feeding, disease prevention and solution, and honey harvesting.

In May 2026, this intensive course will be given on the 9th (Saturday), from 9-5.

To secure your spot, a non-refundable $150 HST fee is required. It includes the full-day course, all course material, refreshments and long-time friendships!
