For sale due to no fault of her own, meet Sonya! Sonya is around 20 yrs old. We have just out grown her and that's the reason she's for sale. Here's everything you need to know about her!
~Super Easy Keeper!~ Sonya is only on hay and has been for the past six yrs. She stays nice and plump on that. If you wanted to feed her grain, she'd gladly eat it :) She can be turned out 24/7 all yr round. Never use a blanket on her as she grows fur unlike any horse I've ever seen! Her feet are pretty good. She's barefoot and does well with a regular trim. Okay with farrier. Doesn't kick.
~ Clean Bill Of Health~ She has never been sick or lame. Always healthy. She came in from pasture once with a sore hind leg but it solved itself overnight and has never reoccurred since. I'm assuming she just slipped and sprained it or was kicked. She was dewormed just a week ago. Due to her being a bit over-weight, she tends to puff if you run her to fast or hard, but is great with walk\ trot and an occasional slow lope.
~ You Can Ride Her!~ Though she's an old girl she's still got lot's left for someone else. She's great on light trail rides which is mostly what we use her for. She can easily keep up with our other horse. I'm being completely honest here, she can be barn sour. She's good going away from home but point her towards the barn and she can be a bit fast and pushy. Sometimes she gets hard in the face and is a bit disrespectful when that happens, but not dirty. I would say, considering that and her age, she is best puttering around the barn with kids on her back and someone leading her. We've done so much of that with her! We ride her mostly bareback but western when we use a saddle. We were told by the previous owner that she can also be ridden English and driven. We've never tried either of those things so I don't know if that's true. She is not for some one inexperienced. She would be great with someone that knows what they're doing.
~ Pasture Puff/ Companion Pony Perfect!~ Sonya is great with any animal. She's been with cats, dogs, chickens, goats, and cows. Best friends with a cow once actually! She would love to sit in your pasture and keep someone company. She's about mid-pecking order I'd say. Not mean at all, but she'll hold her own when it comes to food.
~ Kid Friendly!~ Sonya loves kids! She would stand for hours to be groomed. Her ground manners are lovely. NEVER bites. She is a super quiet and gentle horse on the ground. She's not what I would call brave but she's certainly willing to try. She's good with bathes and as far as I know is okay with trailering.
~ Her History~ We have had her for six yrs and before that we have no way of knowing what her life was like or what her training consisted of. I don't know if she ever had a foal. She didn't with us.
~ Pony Alert!!~ Please keep in mind she's very much a pony and has not forgotten that. She can have an attitude but she's not dirty :)
