How it works : -
Apple Airplay Music on a Mac laptop broadcasts wirelessly to the Airport Express
The Airport Express is connected by fibre-optic cable to the Cambridge DAC
The Cambridge DAC : -
up-samples the data flow threefold
converts it from digital to analogue
feeds it to a conventional analogue hi-fi system
In other words, the Cambridge DAC serves as an intermediary between Apple digital music and a conventional analogue audio system
Three times up-sampling interpolation
all components function perfectly, and have no issues
The Cambridge DAC typically sells on eBay for about $300 US ($360 Cdn)
The Apple Airport Express typically sells on eBay for about $30 US ($40 Cdn)
