If you’re passionate about creating the perfect event power solution, you may be the person we are looking for. We are in the process of expanding our team with a Professional Electrician, who will be able to perform the following job duties and meet the following requirements.
Job Duties:
- read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing temporary installations
- pull portable power cable through multiple indoor and outdoor locations and environments.
- install temporary brackets and hangers to support electrical equipment
- install, replace and repair portable power cable, distribution equipment, such as disconnect switches, circuit breaker panels, and temporary distribution equipment
- join and connect flexible wire to fixtures and equipment to form circuits
- test continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of system, following installation, monitoring or repair
- setup and operate diesel generators from 20kW to 500kW in size, paying particular attention to proper grounding
- troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems and remove and replace faulty components
- connect electrical power to audio and visual and theatrical lighting equipment, refrigeration units, food trucks, concession trailers and temporary heating and cooling systems
- conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
Skills/Education Requirements:
- successful completion of high school is required
- successful completion of a four- to five-year apprenticeship program is required
- registration as a certified journey person in BC, or evidence of the skills to obtain this registration, is preferred
- preference is given to those candidates who have experience working with multiple voltages from 120V to 600V
- being familiar with the utilization of battery storage equipment to power events is a definite bonus
- preference is given to those candidates who have experience working with temporary power installations
- having the ability to safely mentor other electrical workers on sites who might have varying levels of experience or competence working with temporary power systems is a definite bonus
- in possession of a valid driver’s license
- able to operate a vehicle with an attached trailer or manlift and maneuver it into tight locations
- having a forklift certification is a big asset
- required to travel to job sites
- ability to work under minimal supervision
- capacity to work NOT under the influence of alcohol, pharmaceutical and or narcotic substances which would impair your ability to work safely
Job details:
- this is a full-time, permanent position (4 vacancies) for at least 30 to 40 hours per week
- working hours: must be willing to work long days, evenings and/or weekends
- vacation: summer vacation time cannot be accommodated
- wage: $38-$40, depending on experience
- benefits: extended medical is available based on contribution
- location of work: centred in Vancouver, with an expected operating range of about 100 km, or other location in the Lower Mainland
