The German Settlers Day, Flag raising ceremony celebration on June 11, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the Grand Parade Square, Halifax

German Settlers Day is observed annually in Nova Scotia on June 7th to honor the significant contributions of German-speaking immigrants who arrived in the province beginning in 1750.

It commemorates their role in founding Lunenburg, developing the region's economy, and shaping its cultural landscape. The celebration also honors the continued cultural, economic, and social contributions of German descendants to Nova Scotia's diverse communities.

This year’s celebration is especially meaningful, as it marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Germany & Canada.

The afternoon will be held as a reception and will include a Coffee & Cake (Kaffee & Kuchen). Guests will have the opportunity to connect with members of the German Canadian community, invited dignitaries, members of the diplomatic community, and friends of the GCA.
