Job Overview
The Restaurant Assistant Manager is a senior leadership position within the restaurant, reporting directly to and supporting the General Manager. This role is responsible for assisting in the planning and execution of daily operations, with direct accountability for key performance areas including financial controls, health & safety compliance, guest experience, and team development, to ensure the restaurant delivers on its business objectives.

Job responsibilities
[Financial & Restaurant Profitability]
• Assist in overseeing daily restaurant operations to meet brand standards and financial targets
• Analyze sales reports, control costs, and manage inventory to optimize profitability as directed
• Support the implementation of operational improvements to enhance efficiency and revenu

[Food & Restaurant Safety]
· Ensure compliance with employment standards, human rights, health and safety, and WHMIS
· Ensure effective implementation and compliance of food safe and pest control programs
· Lead and drive restaurant quality checks including cleanliness inspections
· Submit requests for repairs and maintenance of the equipment and facility when required

[Guest Experience]
· Audit and uphold food quality, presentation, and service standards through regular floor and kitchen presence
· Observe, assess, and evaluate restaurant operations against pre-set brand standards
· Coach employees in real-time to correct service gaps and reinforce standards
· Analyze root causes of operational or guest service issues and assist in developing corrective action plans
· Ensure that all identified guest concerns are tracked and resolved to satisfaction

[Employee Engagement & Development]
· Train, coach and develop staff to deliver a positive and performance-motivated employee culture
· Ensure that the restaurant is fully staffed with the right people by adhering to approved recruitment process developing and retaining great employees and maintaining a pipeline of candidates ready to fill vacancies
· Support corporate HR Department's employee policies, procedures, and programs for a consistent experience for all employees
· Ensure all employee relations inquiries and complaints are handled promptly

Qualifications
[Experience]
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role
• Completion of a college or university program in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is required
• A valid Manitoba Food Handler and Smart Choice Certificates are required

· Strong communication skills in English; multiple languages is considered a strong asset.

Hours of Work
· Full time - must have the ability to work minimum 30 hours a week
· Ability to work flexible shifts- mornings, days, evenings, weekends, holidays

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires standing for up to 8 hours per shift, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing all day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position also requires lifting up to 25lbs from floor to waist, waist to shoulder and shoulder to above head. This position also required twisting, turning, and reaching.
