Position: IT System Administrator
Location: Lethbridge Corporate Head Office, On-Site
Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time

We are seeking an experienced System Administrator to support and maintain our internal infrastructure. In this role, you will focus on system health, automation, security compliance, and long- term capacity planning while also assisting our front-line support. Key Responsibilities
• Respond to complex issues escalated from front-line support, including more complicated OS errors, software compatibility conflicts, and troubleshooting network connectivity issues.
• Configure, maintain, and monitor both Linux and Windows Server (2019-2025).
• Manage Active Directory (AD), Group Policy Objects (GPO), and Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions (Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra, etc.).
• Administer virtualization environments using Proxmox, VMware and Hyper-V.
• Manage hybrid cloud resources within Microsoft Azure, Office 365, Google Cloud, and Google Workspace.
• Monitor and maintain system backups and perform regular recovery tests for retrievability.
• Implement patch management policies, manage firewalls, and monitor logs for suspicious activity.
• Write scripts (Bash, PowerShell, Python, etc.) to automate repetitive tasks and streamline deployments.
• Manage Routing, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewall configurations.
• Service desk support responding to incoming IT support requests via our ticket system, e-mail, phone, in-person walk-ups, and prioritize tasks during outages.
• Troubleshooting and diagnostics to resolve technical issues related to Windows & Mac computers, mobile devices, printers, and video conferencing equipment.
• User on-boarding and off-boarding procedures, including creating accounts (Active Directory, Google Workspace, Office 365) and configuring hardware for new hires.
• Install, configure, and upgrade operating systems and software applications.
• Create and maintain internal documentation of complex systems.
• Asset management of hardware inventory, software licenses, and peripherals.
Required Qualifications
• Experience: 3-5 years of experience in System Administration or a similar role.
• A Deep understanding of Windows Server environments (IIS, AD, DNS, MSSQL) and Linux command line tools.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN, Routing, VLAN’s).
• Ability to balance immediate user support needs with long-term infrastructure projects.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. You can explain complex technical concepts to non-technical colleagues.
• A logical approach to troubleshooting with the goal to identify the root cause for each case.
• Languages: English
• Transportation: Own vehicle, Valid driver’s license
• Ability to distinguish between colours
• Sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling
• Working with others, problem solving, critical thinking, significant use of memory, finding information, continuous learning.
Preferred Skills
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience with MDM tools (Jamf, Intune, etc.).
• Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira Service Desk).
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
